‘The Goodies: The Musical Phenomenon
with Bill Oddie SUN 28 JAN 0930hrs Watershed £8.00/£6.00 The much-loved television comedy series The Goodies drew tens of millions of fans each week in 1974-75. An exceptional feature of the show, however, was Bill Oddie’s series of extraordinary musical compositions, which exploded into the mainstream pop charts, while songs such as ‘The Inbetweeners ‘and ‘Funky Gibbon’ became top selling chart hits. Tim, Bill and Graeme found themselves appearing on Top of The Pops alongside the top musical acts of the time. Bill Oddie in conversation with author and comedy historian Robert Ross talks candidly about his work writing songs for the long running TV series, their chart successes, and what it was like being bona fide pop star in the 70s.’

11th November 'Goodie' Tim is back to host hospice's Christmas concert
All round 'goodie' Tim Brooke-Taylor will host this year's fund raising Christmas concert for Windsor's hospice.
He will be introducing performances by the Royal Harmonics and Windsor Boys and Girls Schools, while the Thames Hospice's own choir will feature staff and volunteers from the charity in Hatch Lane.
Alison Evans, Thames Hospice’s head of community and events fundraising, said: “We’re hoping for another sell-out night, so we can raise lots of funds to support our services – which are open 24/7 and caring for local people on Christmas Day, as any other day of the year. Please join us, and we promise you, your friends and family, will have fun and enjoy the magic of the festive season.”
The event takes place at the Wellington College at Duke's Ride, Crowthorne.
Alongside the music, will be readings from guests including the Mayor of Bracknell Councillor Tina McKenzie-Boyle, Thames Hospice ambassador Kate Atkinson, plus the charity’s medical director Doctor Cecily Wright. Tickets include mince pies and mulled wine, which will be served from 6.30pm.
This event raises funds through ticket sales and a retiring collection on the night. For more details, or to book, visit www.thameshospice.org.uk/wellington or call 01753 842121. Tickets are £15.

Bill Oddie to give talks at RHS Autumn Garden Show in London 25 & 26 October |
more from same (Bill's Nature Shows) |
Bill Oddie will be giving talks at the RHS Autumn Garden Show in London 25 & 26 October, 2017.
According to the schedule ( available from https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-london-shows/rhs-autumn-garden-show) Bill's talk will be "Tales of a Ludicrous Bird Gardener" (also the title of his recently-published book".
Here is the talk's description, from the schedule: "Join Britain's best-known birdwatcher, Bill Oddie, on a journey through the gardens he has known and owned during his life, from a muddy backyard in Rochdale to the ever-changing almost psychedelic ludicrous kaleidoscope of his current garden in Hampstead, which has been an obsession for the past 25 years. Enlivened by stories of a heroic one-legged Great Tit, a Feng Shui Fox and a stampede of 100 rats, it is clear that the wildlife outside our back doors never fails to entertain and amaze."
