Bill writes music for children's Christmas video |
more from same (The Goodies) |
The following article (which includes a photo of Bill with the children) appears online at http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/3962532.Youngsters_star_in_festive_music_video/
Youngsters star in festive music video 2:20am Wednesday 10th December 2008
By Steve Hackwell

SIX young dancers from south Essex will be appearing on television throughout the festive season.
The youngsters, from Southend-based Wiggles dance group, were chosen to take part in the music video for a Christmas single written by Bill Oddie, the wildlife presenter and former member of The Goodies.
The video for the Christmas Song will be screened on the CBeebies programme, the Green Balloon Club, during the next fortnight, and will also be available on the BBC website.
Lorraine Field, owner of Wiggles, said all the children had a fantastic time filming the video at Lee Valley Park farm, in Waltham Abbey.
She said: "It was amazing. They all had such fun, and Bill Oddie was really good with the kids as well.
"We got involved after I got a phone call from the BBC, which contacted me on the strength of the Wiggles website.
"It said it was looking for some young breakdancers to take part in the video. We've got some really good dancers at the group, from both Basildon and Southend."
The video also features young Bollywood and Irish dancers.

Bob Spiers RIP |
more from same (The Goodies) |
Bob Spiers, who directed the final (LWT) series of The Goodies, has pass away. From http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7763437.stm:
Ab Fab director Spiers dies at 63
Bob Spiers, who directed classic TV sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, has died at the age of 63 after a long illness.
Spiers, born in Glasgow, began his career as an assistant floor manager before becoming one of the BBC's most prolific sitcom directors.
His other credits include the second series of Fawlty Towers, as well as episodes of French and Saunders and Dad's Army.
In 1997, he directed the Spice Girls' movie Spice World.
Spiers also directed the pilot of Not the Nine O'Clock News, as well as episodes of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie's sketch show A Bit of Fry & Laurie.
Former BBC head of comedy Jon Plowman, who last worked with Spiers on Ab Fab and French and Saunders, called him "simply the best comedy director there ever was".
In the 1980s he left the BBC to work as freelance director and producer, and directed many of the episodes of Channel 4's The Comic Strip Presents...
He also directed episodes of The Goodies and ITV children's drama Press Gang.
In an interview with the website Joking Apart, he said: "Think of the people I work with. It's there in the scripts. I'm in safe hands. I simply have to bring it out."
Spiers died in Devon surrounded by his family, but until recently had been living in Acapulco, Mexico.

The Unbelievable Truth Christmas Special |
more from same (British Comedy) |
Thanks to Sosia for posting the following in the club's forums:
The Radio Times for a fortnight's time (I'm confused by how many editions have fallen through my letterbox this week!) is listing the Christmas Unbelievable Truth as being broadcast on Monday 15th December at 6.30pm on Radio 4. I presume it will be in IPlayer for the following week.
Details are The Unbelievable Truth Christmas Special
Monday 15 December 6:30pm - 7:00pm BBC Radio 4
David Mitchell hosts a special Christmas edition of the game show in which panellists are encouraged to tell lies and compete to see how many items of truth they are able to smuggle past their opponents. The panel are Graeme Garden, Jack Dee, Armando Iannucci and Sean Lock.
