Bill Oddie Daily Mail story & reminder about "Frights & Delights" |
more from same (The Goodies) |
Hi Everyone,
Sorry about the delay in reporting about a Daily Mail interview from May 1st in which Bill Oddie talks about being diagnosed as being bipolar. The interview, which explains his struggles over the last year as well as his recovery (and which also includes a nice photo of Bill with his wife Laura and two of his grandchildren) can be found at:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1270002/Bill-Oddie-I-wanted-end-I-I-Bipolar.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
Also, a reminder that the first of three episodes of "Bill Oddie's Top 10", "Frights and Delights" airs today in Britain on BBC Two at 20:00. Next week's episode (on 13 May) is "Bill Oddie's Top 10 Aliens"; here's a listing: "How much of our British wildlife is not actually British? Whether we realise it or not, a large proportion of our flora and fauna doesn't really belong here. These are Britain's aliens, introduced here from far away. Bill Oddie's mission is to count down what he considers to be the ten most welcome and the ten least welcome of these aliens. As ever, Bill's top ten results are likely to surprise or even shock."

Reminder: Support the appeal for a new GOODIES DVD! |
more from same (The Goodies) |
Here's a reminder about this important effort. We're up to 1,500 signatures, including Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden! Good work everyone, and keep spreading the word!
A fan effort to get more Goodies DVDs released is underway. Please sign this petition (right away, if possible) and spread the word to your friends: http://www.petitiononline.com/2010gds/petition.html
Here's the fuller explanation about the appeal:
Support the appeal for a new GOODIES DVD!
The aim for this rapid-response petition is to give the BBC real statistics, real feedback and a solid case for releasing a new Goodies DVD.
The timeframe is slim-but-possible to have a DVD produced by November 2010 - The Goodies 40th anniversary. With that said, I'm sure you agree that a new Goodies DVD for 2011 is an equally fantastic goal and would be received with much joy.
The petition will be submitted to BBC Worldwide Australia (and BBC Worldwide head office by proxy) on APRIL 26th. Please sign the petition right away if you can; if we can reach our target earlier, then it can be sent in earlier - and a day saved is a day left for processes to take place before November!
We encourage you to use your real name (rather than just a vague username) and to leave a personalised comment wherever possible! You can choose to keep your email address private.
The petition is at http://www.petitiononline.com/2010gds/petition.html. Any additional comments (positive and encouraging) can be left in the threads on the Goodies Rule - OK! forum and the Saucy Gibbon forums.
Finally, you can help by telling others about the petition. Word of mouth is the key to our success here in showing a true groundswell of support for the release. The more people you can get to sign, the quicker we reach our goal – so please spread the word!
Thank you!

Tickets are limited to no more than four per applicant. They will be advertised only to subscribers to this newsletter and the 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue' mailing list until Tuesday 20th April, so book early to avoid disappointment!
Apologies to all who've not received replies to emails sent to this address recently. It's become a bit too large for me to manage, but help is at hand, and in the next month or so it should all be running properly again.
In other news, Graeme would like you to know there's a petition for anyone keen to see another Goodies DVD:
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?2010gds&1
And Linda Smith's partner Warren would like you to know there's a 'gala comedy night' show in her memory at The Rose Theatre, Kingston-upon-Thames on Sunday 9th May at 7.30pm featuring Andy Hamilton, Jeremy Hardy, Sandi Toksvig, Arthur Smith and Hattie Hayridge.
With best wishes
