Oh was there ever such a fiendish foe as nellie?Oh,how i used to long to pull on or cut off her ringlets to exact revenge for wrong done to my "friend" Laura!!Feeling like an utter dishrag today after sitting up late watching little house on the prairie-haha-"wild" saturday night .Bought 48 episodes of the show for $80.00=bargain. CAN'T wait to see again the episode where laura lets nellie go down a steep hill in a wheelchair-go laura!AND -yay-have finally got my own copy of the episode where a lady asks for charles' help to feign her own funeral so that her family will come visit her for a change-brilliant!! .Watching as an adult i can see what a very very very nice character charles ingalls is-industrious,kind,caring.I bet if they'd had any grass HE would have slashed it-and NOT left it up to caroline .
Mood - in need of (what is it?)sleep
Music - theme from L.H.O.T.P in my head
Hmmm...way off in the distance now, but every now and then I remember that closing bit and think..."Goodnight Jim-Bob...Goodnight Mary-Lou..." (Just insert whichever U.S.-sounding names are appropriate!) What a pity kids don't watch more nice shows like that nowadays, rather than the swearing/killing/sex/yuck stuff they do watch!
Janice, you are thinking of the Waltons-i see you smack your head and say"of course " .(i wonder if you had a crush on john-boy?he was so sweet and clever) .I actually get the theme from these 2 shows mixed up in my head. You fellas might have read some of the "little house" books during school days?Remember they used to tap the trees for maple syrup-or something-and put in on fresh snow and eat it??That's just something that i remember.Remember that laura married almanzo(almonzo-spelling?)-but she called him mandy-something like that.Boo hoo- i want someone to remember -haha .
Yes Dafty i remember "Little House on the Pairie". I loved the tv series and Melissa Gilbert will always Laura Ingalls to me no matter what acting part she plays in the future (in real life she married Bruce Boxlietner - "The Scarecrow and Mrs King" - major spunk) My most favorite and most sad episodes was when Mary went blind - and when Mrs Ingalls lost her baby and Laura went up the mountain to ask god if he would take her instead - i cried for ages. Next to "Little Women" by Louise M Alcott, the Little House on the Pairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder and The Trixie Belden Mystery stories by Julie Campbell were to die for darling. I also loved 'The Waltons' cos John-Boy became a writer and in the telemovie went back to Walton Mountain and saved the town from developers AAAHHHH!! Now that i have frightened everyone away I'll say - Goodnight John-Boy, Goodnight Mary-Ellen, Goodnight Daftbird ect.....
D'oh! The Waltons! Yes! I didn't watch either show a lot, though...I'm not sure why...maybe it was on at a bad time...Saturday evenings or something... I know they were "nice" shows, though. I love the films in the Anne of Green Gables books. (I've never read any of the books for any of these series, though.) I taped AofGG (at least, the second series) off telly and still have them. They're wonderful!
Oh yes,how lucky was melissa gilbert in real life as well-he was SO lovely looking!(are they still together, i wonder??)I still collect the trixie belden books whenever i see them- had a secret crush on her brother marty and loved it whenever he got a mention-pathetic!!(I loved little women as well .) Janice, you would get no end of happiness if you went to a book shop and ordered the WHOLE anne series-it really would be worth the expense-every cent-just so as you can end up reading about one of anne's children, walter(named after anne's father). He is such a lovely character.i've been trying to convince one of my sisters to do the same thing for years-to no avail .Little house on the prairie update-last night watched the episode where charles adjusts the shoe of a little lame girl ,olga,so that she can walk and run properly-tears all around when her father sees her walk properly for the first time in her life. And nelly gets her come uppance and ends up soaking wet in the creek.Just put that there for the edification of bondgirl.THEN it was on to the muppets haha .Watched 3 episodes of it last night-supposedly bought the dvd for my son .
I have no idea what the show you're talking about daftbird but it sure sounds interesting! From what people say on this site, it seems television before I was born was better than modern tv!
Oh, yes, ek! We had lovely shows! There are some nice mini series now, but a lot of the regular stuff is not "wholesome" like the nice, ol' programs when we were kids!
Dafty, I have 2 Muppets videos I bought...and I have no kids! So feel quite happy in your watching of them! I love the Star Wars episode. By the way, the blonde girl in the Muppet band is called Janis!
This prompts a journal entry! I will do a new one soon...stay tuned!

What i was thoroughly enjoying when watching the muppets was all the trivia facts that come on to the bottom of the screen-it's a feature that you switch on.Tells you who did which voices, who played miss piggy first-that sort of thing.Facts about the guest stars. Can't wait to watch some more.I agree with what you said,Janice. The shows back then were just fantastic. And they really stand up today as well. The weird thing with little house is that i'm finding it relaxing-it's SO relaxing -and i can't think the last time i've had that feeling when watching anything.Everything's so fast now. It's a pity.Must be getting on in years to say such a thing .
We have the Muppet Show first series on DVD. We also have The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppets Treasure Island, The Muppet Movie, The Muppets Take Manhattan and The Great Muppet Caper. And no kids in our house. Unless you count me and Trent that is! ;-D
We have John Denver and the Muppets sing Christmas Carols as well as a couple of the productions AC mentioned. I love Risso the Rat and Animal (I must have a thing for hairy little drummers).
