Today I took an RDO and Trent took the morning off so that we could get the loan paperwork sorted out. Unfortunately for me, I was designated driver for the day. This meant I had to drive from home in Glen Iris across to the credit union in Doncaster. Then from Doncaster to the Mortgage Broker in Camberwell. Then from Camberwell down to Chapel St to drop off Trent for work and have some lunch. Then back from Chapel St to Doncaster to the credit union again. And then finally from Doncaster back home to Glen Iris. Phew!!!
Anyway we got it all organised. So things are progressing and quite close to being finished. It's all so boring and time consuming - while at the same time being somehow slightly terrifying!! Every time we have to go for one of these meeting things I feel like a kid being called in to the head-master's office or something stupid like that. Being a grown-up is too much hard work!
I also found a place called "Recreation Radio" who will take our RadioGram. Anyone who doesn't know, a RadioGram is a big unit sort of like a side table. It's made from polished wood and built into it is a radio (am only of course - this thing's old!) and a gram (which is a record-player or turntable - but you should all know that from The Goodie's pirate radio station) Anyway, this thing is huge and there's no way it will fit in our new place. I'm quite sad to let it go because it belonged to my Grandpa who must have bought it in the 40s or 50s. But I'm afraid it just has to go. At least I've found a place that will take it for us though.
Anyway I really should be using the rest of my RDO to do some more packing. Mind you, I'm feeling totally wrecked from all the racing round this morning. But I've got to at least do a little bit of packing. Man I'm sick of packing! Anyway, not too long now. Soon we will be UNpacking!! And then it will all be finished. Hooray!
Ergh, that's a lot of driving. The trips in the burbs (Malvern, Camberwell, Glen Iris, South Yarra, Toorak, etc) are always annoying because of the standstill traffic. Somebody needs to bring hover cars onto the market Is that recreation radio place near the Camberwell area (I can't remember the suburb)? My grandparents brought a gramaphone over from Adelaide to be fixed there - they def. know what they're doing. If you don't mind me asking, what suburb will you be moving to?
Hey Mazzanda. That Recreation Radio place is in Ashburton. They used to somewhere else in a similar area but I forget where it was. The place we are moving to is in Box Hill.
How silly I didn't know where it was *blush* I must go there too often. Box Hill is an interesting area. It's kinda whacky. Every second person in my course seems to live in Box Hill. I hope you have fun there!
Thanks guys. Actually the shop is called Resurrection Radio not Recreation Radio - I got confused! Yeah I think Box Hill will be a cool place to live. It's great for public transport with the train, tram and all those buses. Plus it has loads of fantastic Asian restaurants and fresh grocers. Yeah packing sucks! Seems to take forever. This weekend is meant to be our big packing time but it's so stinking hot I hardly feel like moving let alone packing!!
AC,i'm having the same old problem with being able to leave a comment.Maybe my computer can't handle all the pictures or something?-oh who knows.well anyway, just wanted to tell you that you unwittingly made me feel sad -years ago my great aunt gave me her old radiogram-it didn't work-but i used to use the cupboard underneath the radio for my "glorybox".When it came time for us to move from the country to city mum wouldn't let me take it-she wasn't keen on it-and i still lament the loss of it .It was silky oak! What a daft woman she was-only NOW does she realise just how daft!
Sorry to bring up sad memories daftbird! Some times I think it's good to let go of material things though. Maybe those buddhists are onto something there. I have to admit to feeling quite liberated getting rid of lots of my stuff in the process of packing. Taking photos of things is good though. Because then you still have the memories and the sentimental side of things - but much smaller and easier to store!
