Birthday Girl
Janice
Another year of my life gone by! It’s hard to believe how the years roll on. I see the signs of the increasing years…yes, the face is starting to sag and those little wrinkles get a bit deeper…the skin is losing its elasticity…Inside I feel young! I still love to listen to music and sing along and dance…except young people today aren’t familiar with a lot of my favourite music, except in remakes! (I bought a new box of ‘80s CDs recently. One song started and I thought, “It sounds like the Gwen Stephanie number: It’s My Life”. It continued, and a guy started singing the same words…I didn’t remember that song from back then, so didn’t realize it had been “covered” recently.)

Oh well, I’m still young-at-heart and probably fitter than a lot of the little couch potatoes, who sit around playing GameBoys and X-Box and listening to their MP3 players, instead of getting out and doing things like I do! It’s off to the farm this arvo…have a ride on that old racehorse of mine. (Racehorse birthdays are on August 1, so technically my fella is now 15! But his real birthday is December 4, so he’s still 14 to me!) Then I’ll feed the menagerie. There are currently two roos and a lamb having bottles, a couple of sheep with lambs to put away in the evening, two wild ducks who think they are pets and demand dinner and the two horses. There may be someone there to help me with it though. I had to do it all myself on Thursday night…takes a while!

Yup, that's true D-Day, just that some girls have more experience at being 21 than others

As Madonna said in "Material Girl", "Experience has made me rich..."!
Well, I'd better hope so, anyway...I have to be a little wiser at least, since I'm so experienced at being 21!

hi janice-your talk of lambs is making me feel hungry   .Speaking of 80's music-do you have songs from that era that you'd love to hear on the radio, but never do?I'd love to hear 'talking in your sleep' by the romantics,'blue day' by mi-sex-that sort of thing. Also on the subject of cover versions--that bird doing 'wonderful life'-where is the heart of the original??

Actually, we have Mix 102.3 and MMM 104.7 in Adelaide and they are both playing lots of old stuff. MMM plays things that I sometimes think, "Wow, I haven't heard that on radio for years!" Sorry, I'm not familiar with the new Wonderful Life.
Hmmm, I have friends who like to consider the lambs surrounded by roast potatoes and mint sauce!

Hey Janice, thanks for checking out my journal and a very happy and belated birthday to you! Your home does indeed sound a bit like a menagerie, but I can relate. Must be something about us country gals, hey? (Am making an educated guess there )

By the way, I am a fellow Red Dwarf fan. In fact, I'm just a plain old BritCom fan: Red Dwarf, the Goodies, Black Books, Monty Python, Black Adder, you name it, I've got it on DVD somewhere.

So you shall be in Melb. on the 4th as well? Shall you take in a session of Goodie Goodie Yum Yum whilst there? I hadn't heard of Equitana before, but having read most of your journal entries I can see why it appeals to you so much! Looking forward to chatting more, smeg on!
