Winking!! |
zaphod |
No, that's not a typo, but it's also not the whole line either, but it sounded funny, so I'm not changing it.
I went to a chartiy screening of Hoodwinked this afternoon, and saw it for the second time (I'm not admitting anything about the firs time though, as I may incriminate myself and several others). Two words, Absolutely Fabulous. I know that is totally the wrong show, but what the heck, it was great. I laughed myself silly, and so did everyone else who got the jokes.
Being a reasonably regular movie goer, I tend to want to know what I'm dealing with in a movie, before I shell out hard earned moolah to go see it. Sometimes it just isn't worth seeing a movie, no matter how cheap it is. For example, Hoodwinked was superb, well worth the $6 I paid (special Charity Screening) and I would have happily paid $20 for a ticket to see this one, maybe even $30 (Gold Class Cinemas) but there are plenty of other movies I had free tickets, and still felt ripped off. Take my all time favourite bagging movie, Gangs of New York. I love to bag this movie because it was so terrible. It went for nearly 3 hours and I very nearly demanded compesation for that lost time which I'll never get back, I wanted compensation for the trauma and distress of actually sitting through it. The strange thing was, there isn't anything I could point at in the movies and say "this is utter shite" becasue overall the movie probably wasn't that bad. The overall effect it had on me was to make me hate it.
I've come to the conclusion that it isn't wether a movie is any good, or good acting, directing, special effects, or whatever that make a good movie, it's how you feel after watching it that makes a good movie.
After Hoodwinked, I felt like I was floating on air, had pains in my sides from laughing so much, and I was deaf in my left ear for about half an hour (my wonderful Fiance also found them ovie hillariously funny and procceded to laugh loudly in my ear most ofthe session).
However, quite the opposite effect was noticed after watching Gangs of New York. I walked out of the cinema thinking that I'd just wasted my entire life and should slit my wrists and just get it over with. It was really that bad.
Yes, I'm feeling quite amused and happy at the moment, and I have a huge smile on my face while I critically bag GoNY, because I think of how well it could have been done if it was animated and had Patrick Warburton doing the voices.
I'm probably waffling at this point, but I think it needs to be said. Go see Hoodwinked when it gets released, and enjoy yourself.
