Hmmm, sounds like a family block of chocolate job to me.  Or maybe a bottle of scotch?

I know it takes a while, but I don't think it's nearly as long for you as it is for me.

Unfortunately, it's the only way to get the read/unread information about the forum, by running a check each time someone accesses the main forum listing.  For general members it only runs through the check for your own posts, but for the admin users it runs through the checks for every single post ever made.  This makes things a little slow, and hammers the life out of my server as well.

I haven't forgotten, and I do understand, but it's a big job to fix it.  If you know something about PHP and MySQL, drop me a line if you think you can have a go at streamlining it.

Cheers

Tim

Hi zaphod.  I know you're a busy chap but this is the suggestions forum so I was wondering if it were possible at some point to archive old threads as it takes a long time for the forums to load up - and that's on broadband! - my PC at home is dial up and it takes ages

Is this something that's possible to do?
