Yes! Specially since they were all done physically, with mirrors and things, and a bit of really early split-screen stuff. No digital stuff, no computers or naff 80s video effects - not even CSO. That Big Store sequence is boggling, technically. Good music, too. Have you seen Duck Soup? I'm still trying to work out how they did the thing with the live dog coming out of the tattoo of a doghouse...
Anyhoo, getting back to Graeme via the Marx Bros... The fuzzychopped one has quite a knack for impersonation, no? (Who IS Eddie Wearing, anyway?) |

And they dressed up as them in Beanstalk. |
I know, how awesome was that?!! I almost squealed 'cause I was so happy.
I love Harpo. He's my favourite Marx brother. I started learning the harp after seeing The Big Store. The bit where he plays the trio with his reflections is one of my favourite Marx Bros moments |

Not a particularly good pic, but the best I can drum up, sadly. Sorry about the truly dire picture quality. Scanner's cactus.

The bit where he plays the trio with his reflections is one of my favourite Marx Bros moments. There's a dvd collection out which has heaps and heaps of their early and rare stuff in it. I was so excited to find it that I didn't even read it properly to see what was in it. All I wanted to do was BUY IT. But I didn't have the money at the time. It's on my list of dvds to buy.
Thanks for the Bromwell High link Jess. I just watched them. Great show and Graeme is SO cool! I'll have to add it to my dvd list.

I always thought that the joke lied in the fact that swearing (in 'Bromwell High" ) is so common place in everyday life and not so much in the "shock factor" - it is sending up (satire) the fact that the 'F' word is used like an everyday adjective - but that is just me Bill : I know when I'm licked cos it feels lovely ! |

Well swearing shocks people but it can also emphasise a point if the comedian is trying to demonstrate something. <--- [This is the sort of thing evil English teachers burn into our brains.]
Have we all seen Bromwell High? Graeme swears quite a bit in it, and I just think it's hilarious. Most everything else he's done has been PG so hearing him swear seems very out of character.
