actually, the whole lucy in the sky with diamonds thing came from when his daughter came home from pre-school with a picture she had made/drawn. she had done the whole typical 'cellophane flowes' thing where everything is out of proportion and wrong colours, etc.
he claimed he could produce the picture as proof. that's why the song has so many childlike elements to it (sounds like a music box, etc) but that serves as a dbl entendre to the whole drugs rumour.
so there you have it (trust the music teacher to know all this!!) Johnny was a chemists son, but Johnny is no more... what Johnny thought was H2O was really H2SO4.....

That whole LSD thing was the media hype. It didn't help things when Paul went on National TV and said he was doing drugs (he was actually the last Beatle to start, because he was scared - he said it, not me). I can't remember if he said in that interview if he was doing acid or not, I'll have to go back and have a look, but he was certainly going on about marijuana.
It was kind of silly of him to do really. An even sillier thing was when Billy Thorpe said he would be administered LSD live on national tv so people could see the affects... he was trying to promote it. Where do rock stars get these ideas from?! |

Apparently the LSD thing was a bit of a media beat-up(as most things are!).I read in an interview with julian lennon where he drew a picture of his friend lucy and that inpired john to write the song. But maybe that story is crap too! . "who would give a tinker's cuss what i have to say here?" |

(very funny bondgirl!).You have prompted me to write it in a different way SINGING:HR Puff n'stuff(i can't spell it),who's your friend when things get rough".Hey have you ever seen that site where it says how the whole thing was about drugs?must try and find that info again because it was actually really funny.well think about the name of the show for a start . |
I would never have associated HR Puff 'n stuff with drugs (only those needed by the viewing audience) but then i didn't twig to the beatles "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" being out LSD either. I'm just an innocent catholic girl.... Bill : I know when I'm licked cos it feels lovely ! |
