updates to Brighton Comedy Festival website
more from same (The Goodies)
The GoodiesThe Paramount Bright Comedy Festival has finally updated their website (http://www.brightoncomedyfestival.com/).  While ticketing information has been available on the Brighton Dome's website for a while,  there is now a quick reference guide on the festival's site (just click "What's On").  The Goodies shows are first on the list (as they should be  ).

The festival website also has a "Win Tickets" link.  At the moment there don't appear to be any competitions for Goodies tickets but it might be worthwhile checking back periodically.

let's make Brighton a sellout!
more from same (The Goodies)
The GoodiesTickets for the Goodies live shows to be held in Brighton on Oct 4th & 5th are selling well.  I suggest the club members do all they can to ensure the shows are sellouts, as this may increase the odds of additional UK shows being scheduled in the future!

For example, if you belong to other comedy forums post a note about the shows, including the link to the Brighton Dome's site (http://www.brightondome.org/events/eventdetails.asp?id=2100).  Feel free to post other helpful suggestions as a comment on this note.

Celebrity auction raises cash for hard-up theatre
nlnews@archant.co.uk
06 September 2006

Boris Johnson
HOW much would you pay to be serenaded by Bill Oddie or spend an evening with Tory MP Boris Johnson?

These unusual events are just two prizes on offer at a celebrity auction to raise funds for the King's Head Theatre in Upper Street, Islington.

Other lots being sold to the highest bidder include a signed painting by Maureen Lipman, a "nude suit" used by comedians the League of Gentlemen and a week's holiday at a ranch in the American outback.

The King's Head's artistic director Stephanie Crawford said: "We're desperately in need of funds but we are thrilled by the generosity and enthusiasm of so many well-known actors who have come to our aid.

"Proceeds from the auction will help to secure our future and help us continue to bring new and exciting work to the London stage."

The cash will go towards the refurbishment of the iconic venue - the first pub theatre in the country - and towards the theatre's work with disadvantaged youngsters.

The auction will be held at the theatre on September 21. For more information call George Ritchie on 020 7226 1916.
