What an annoying turn of events last night. I was happily working on the aforementioned project (R&D video stuff) when just as I'm making some serious headway, we have a power failure.
Normally I would not have minded too much, but since I have a very rapidly approachind deadline to have this thing completed, something like this annoys the crap out of me.
What I don't understand is why 3 surrounding suburbs were blacked out. It isn't like it was a high demand time, although I suspect that it is a problem that could have been prevented. The first thing that could have been done to prevent it, is to not have privatised it a few years back. Ever since ETSA was sold off into the private sector, levels of service have gone down, and prices have skyrocketed. In the last 5 years, my electricity bill has gone from less than $50 per quarter, to over $200. The next one will probably be somewhere around the $500+ mark. Time to install that portable nuclear generator I've been dreaming of......
The other thing that annoys me is that now ETSA is privately owned, the powers that be couldn't give a toss about equipment maintenance, or even bothering to employ people who know what they are doing.
The whole thing is beyond a joke, and unfrotunately nobody is going to do a damned thing about it.

Here Here!! All essential services should be government owned and regulated. Increased privatisation of essential public services doesnot = competitivity. I shall not get off my soap box incase my power goes off as well.
Yep the liberals under John Olsen should never have done it to the electricity. What gets me is John Olsen doesnt live in South Australia anymore so he doesnt have to put up with the mess he has caused. It reaaly annoying that we have to rely on another state for are electricity too.
Actually, the problem isn't relying on another state for our electricity, it's the fact that the other states (not mentioning any names) get priority on the electricity generated in our state, even though they shouldn't have it at all.
