I'm a member of another unrelated forum which has the oldest posts first... BUT... so long as you're signed in each thread is labelled, eg "10 posts (5 new)" as it remembers which you read last time you were signed in. When you click to view the thread it commences from the first un-read message and continues on chronologically. |

I prefer viewing the newest posts first - keeping them at the top means that nobody misses the latest posts. I myself brought him in last week - drunk and disorderly. But when I sobered up, he'd gone. Sorry. (P.C. BENT) |

I prefer newer posts first as you don't have to navigate around to get the latest.
However for the threads that are games, is it possible (somewhere) to have a link to that very first post that might have listed there the rules.
Eg: In the case of Change 1 Letter Game you would have to click on the highest number in the list on main forum page [10 20 ......70] etc and then scroll down bottom of next page, and keep clicking the right most highest numbered link eg: [... 73 74] until you get to first posted page. Bill: "I used to have a pet rabbit once.......and at no stage did he ever strap me to the couch and stick carrots in my ears!" |

Definitely in favour of oldest first, plus the inclusion of a button that allows users to go straight to "new posts" since their previous view of any particular thread. It must be somewhat disorienting for newcomers to open a thread and be hit with the most recent post (and to then have to wade backwards). Not that I'm complaining mind. |

If you did want to change it to a more traditional "oldest post first" format, that could work as long as there was a link to jump to the latest posts. |

Hmm, difficult. When I joined it did seem odd that the new posts were first as I was used to it being the other way round on the other forums I use but actually now it's grown on me and I rather like it! |
