The BBC has confirmed that Matt Lucas’ new TV series The Matt Lucas Awards, the first production from Matt Lucas’ new production company John Stanley Productions, will air this spring.

The six-part panel show, made with the BBC, is a TV version of Lucas’ Radio 2 show And the Winner Is. In each episode, a small number of guests nominate people, places, songs and films to win the Lucas awards in the shape of a gold miniature naked Matt Lucas.

The awards are given out in Matt’s flat, where he is joined by his own mum and on keyboards by the renowned film composer David Arnold (five James Bond films, Independence Day) in front of a live studio audience.

In episode one, the guests are comedian Jason Manford, former Goodie Graeme Garden and German stand-up Henning Wehn. Future guests include Ruth Jones, Louis Walsh, Johnny Vegas, David Baddiel, Griff Rhys Jones, Richard Madeley and Maureen Lipman.

A pilot for the show was recorded last year,  with executive producer Mark Freeland and  Matt Lucas, producers Ashley Blaker and Alex Hardcastle, with director Alex Hardcastle.
