Evening Standard article with Graeme anecdote
more from same (British Comedy)
British ComedyThe following article appeared in The Evening Standard yesterday (January 14, 2009):

Messing about on the river ; The Londoner's Diary

VETERAN comedians Barry Cryer and Graeme Garden performed a double act at yesterday's Oldie literary lunch at Simpson's-in-the- Strand, promoting their book, The Doings of Hamish and Dougal, You'll Have Had Your Tea.

Garden recalled that, while fishing on the Spey, he noticed that ghillies displayed a wonderful mixture of contempt and respect. "Don't bugger about with your reel, SIR," he was once told while landing a fish. Garden said that, after a bad day, his ghilly suggested they should try Rifkind's pool. "Would that be the Secretary of State for Scotland, later Foreign Secretary?" said Garden.

"Does he catch a lot of fish?" "No," said the ghilly, "only the one"

more from same (British Comedy)
British ComedyAccording to the January 9th edition of BBC Radio 7's newsletter, repeats of Tim & Graeme's radio show "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" topped the list of shows people were listening to using the BBC iPlayer/Listen Again (audio on demand service) over the holidays.

Here's an excerpt from the newsletter:

The BBC iPlayer has radically changed listening habits, so I was also interested to find out what some of you were "listening to again" on the iPlayer over the Christmas period.

"Top Ten entries" included:

I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue (peaking at No.1)
His Dark Materials (peaking at No.2)
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (peaking at No.5)
Adolf Hitler - My Part in his Downfall (peaking at No. 6)
The Doctor Who Commentaries (also peaking at No. 6)
Doctor Who - The Chimes of Midnight (peaking at No. 7)
Hancock's Half Hour (peaking at No.
Hercule Poirot's Christmas (peaking at No.10)
And also at No. 10 in the chart, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Old Curiosity Shop Omnibus.
