more from same (The Goodies)
The GoodiesThanks to the Goodies Podcast and Saucy Gibbon for this news.  The following article appears online aon the Banbury Guardian website at http://www.banburyguardian.co.uk/news/local/hospice_bowled_over_by_support_1_2758300

Hospice bowled over by support
Published on Friday 10 June 2011 08:51

FAMOUS faces from the world of cricket and television will come together for a fundraising cricket match on behalf of Katharine House Hospice.

On June 26, internationally-renowned cricketers Neal Radford, Neil Smith, Graham Rose and Devon Malcolm will be joined fellow celebrities – yet to be revealed – for a charity cricket match at Enstone Sports and Social Club.

The event, which has been organised by The Lord’s Taverners Thames Valley Region, will be hosted by Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden of former television series The Goodies, with Star Trek’s Sir Patrick Stewart also making a special appearance. Sarah Brennan, community fundraiser for the hospice, said: “We are really excited about this fundraiser.

“The Goodies are renowned for their hilarious mad-cap comedy and this, combined with the presence of so many household names, should be the perfect recipe for a great day’s entertainment.

“We are delighted The Lords’s Taverners have chosen the hospice to be a beneficery of the fundraiser and with daily running costs exceeding £5,000, every penny counts.”

The event will begin at noon and will be accompanied by an auction.

Lunch and tea with the celebrities costs £30 per person and spectators are welcome for a donation at the gate.

For more information or tickets call David Bussey on 07766 104370.

Bill judges Pup (not Pop) Idol
more from same (The Goodies)
The GoodiesBill will be one of the celebrity judges at a dog show during the Hampstead Heath Summer Festival this Sunday.  Here's the full story from London24 (http://www.london24.com/news/pup_idol_kicks_off_at_south_end_green_festival_on_sunday_1_931773):

Pup idol kicks off at South End Green festival on Sunday

Adrienne Rice, Reporter
Friday, June 24, 2011  11:00 AM

The Pup Idol dog show returns to South End Green this Sunday during the Hampstead Heath Summer Festival with a celebrity judging panel that includes Bill Oddie and Peter Egan.

Dogs will be judged in one of six categories: Miss Hampstead, Mr Hampstead, Cutest Pup, Golden Oldies, Best Rescue, and Best Dressed.

A total of 20 dogs will be shown for each category and the judges will choose four finalists for interviews and then vote on a winner.

Rodney Zasman, director of Zasman Vets and creator of The Pup Idol Dog Show, said: “Interview questions could be something about the dog and owner relationship, tricks the dog can do or interesting and dramatic stories. It is quite funny, the interviewer is a comedian so it becomes quite tongue in cheek.

“It has really evolved into an event. Last year Liam Gallagher and his family attended the show and are expected to return. There will be VIP tables, a champagne bar, and live music in between each category.”

Proceeds will go towards the charity All Dogs Matter, which rescues abandoned dogs and puts them in foster care until permanent homes are found. Mr Zasman hopes to raise £10,000 and has already received generous donations.

The contest begins at 1pm outside Zasman Vets in South End Road. Hampstead Heath Summer Festival will run from 11am until 5pm, and will feature live entertainment, face painting, a Petting Zoo, shopping and food.

For more information and to register your dog visit www.alldogsmatter.co.uk.

British ComedyThe 55th series of "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" begins on BBC Radio 4 next Monday, 27 January at 6:30pm.  Each episode will be repeated at noon on the Sunday after broadcast. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0124sc5

Here's a listing for the first episode from the new series:

"The 55th series of Radio 4's multi award-winning antidote to panel games promises more quality, desk-based entertainment for all the family, as the series starts its run in front of an audience of 2,500 at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall. Regulars Barry Cryer, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor are joined on the panel by special guest Marcus Brigstocke, with Jack Dee as the programme's reluctant chairman.
