There was lots of differences between the ones that aired on tv in the 80s and the ones on the goodies DVD's. I guess they edited them each time there was repeats because when I watched a leter repeat by chance in the 2000's I noticed there was differences between the repeats which i thought was strange |

Not as far as I could see. The tapes are still playable. There's a few tapes though.. I've kept them stored with my early computer discs. |

No, I haven't even watched them, but my younger brother watched them and said i did a pretty good job, lol so they must be mostly complete. I would setup and record a new episode each night. |

Wow from the early 80s! Have you digitised them at all? Thanks for your reply. |

I have vhs tapes of most of the goodies episodes aired in the early 80's that I recorded when I was a kid. I tried to cut out the ads, so some of them might be missing the first starts when it came back on from the ads, but most of them are complete if someone is looking for them. In the end I don't think i bothered cutting the ads, so theres the full episodes with all the ads too. They haven't been watched in years, but dad had one of the first sharp vcr's back in 80 and upgraded it in uh 82. It lasted till about 2010, so it was pretty high quality for its age. It still worked when I threw it out. I still remember the safety dance would show on abc a lot as well as Julian lennons song that was a hit in? Uh 82? But there was good shows on abc back then. |

Thanks very much for your reply. I did pretty much the same thing as you, recorded on vhs and I do recall the marathon over the Christmas period, but I thought that was 2001. But your writing confirms it as 2000 so that completes a mystery. I believe my recordings from Season 3 onwards are the 2000 recordings, then I have Seasons 1 and 2 that I think I recorded in 2005 off Austar because I'm pretty sure that run they only played those two Seasons. I recorded them straight to DVD as I had a DVD recorder by then. Thanks again! |

The Goodies marathon on Austar UKTV was in Dec 2000.
I don't recall the transmission dates, it was closer towards Christmas when it started. I know I bought a box of high grade VHS tapes solely for the purpose of recording the shows, and a new VHS player as existing one was much older.
Still have both the box & tapes which has date of Nov 2000 on it - which was when I ordered them in. [Sony VPRO-XG]
Watching the marathon was the first time I got to see The Commonwealth Games in a long time. And first time seeing the mention in Earthanasia of 'bubbles in the bath', and the scene towards end of part one, in Dodonuts wherewalking Dodo along road with a leash on it.
The shows were screened roughly in chronological order and there were also repeats of the episodes shown. Don't recall Goodies & The Beanstalk, Superstar, or Kitten Kong episode being shown - at least none of those were on the 11 tapes I ended up using.
Maybe I ignored recording Kitten Kong again as had a commercial tape which already had it on it?
Had set up x2 VHS recorders, so could have one ready to record when previous episode completed and were running out of tape, so would not miss start of them.
Only had transmission issue on one episode [snooze] where it came through a bit glitchy.
The previous broadcast I had access to was on ABC circa 1993/1994, and recorded those on BETA. Back in those days if you did not record it - you might not see it for years, as back then was no internet, no CD/DVD recording mediums.
There were none of the LWT series as this was only a back to back marathon of BBC Goodies episodes. Bill: "I used to have a pet rabbit once.......and at no stage did he ever strap me to the couch and stick carrots in my ears!" |

Hi everyone, I have some Goodies episodes that I recorded from Austar (Australian pay tv) from the UK.TV channel. I am unsure of when I recorded them. I have a mixture of VHS and DVD recordings that I made at the time. I was wondering if anybody had a list of transmission dates for the Goodies on UK.TV? |
