Patrick Moore was always a good sport, and a fabulous additional talent on the Goodies episodes. And I loved Frank Thornton as the MC for the Trend-Setters' Ball, in 'Punky Business'. (Also loved him in AYBS). 'Go on...you know it makes sense!' |

That's one problem you'll have to solve yourself. |

Your poll is up, jeffers.
I modified the idea a little bit and just asked about favorite female guest characters.
Due to the limited number of character for each select I had to choose between the actresses' names or the character names - I finally decided upon characters & episode titles, as I figured those would be familiar to more people. |

To narrow a very wide field and put a different spin on a guest star poll, how about something similar to: Which female guest star's character would've made the best Goody wife?
Stay with me here...
...there were more than a few candidates over the years (Gaye Brown, Jane Asher, Tessa Wyatt) - and of course all three of the Goodies were married at the end of Punky Business. Plus there was that business with Raquel Welch in 2001 And A Bit.
But basically it narrows the field from dozens of guest stars to around the '10' number needed (including one of the breeding pair of Rolfs in the Goodies Safari Park) and gives props to some truly great guest stars (Joan Sims, Beryl Reid, Barbara Mitchell et al).
Sure it isn't the most PC poll suggestion but I'm putting it out there anyway |

I think we did a guest star poll a few years ago. I can't recall whether it was for the actors or their characters; I'll have to check.
Either way, I'm happy to do another one as long as I can put a slightly different spin on it. After all, it's been a while since the last one and many new members have joined the club since then.
Thanks for the suggestion, Jeffers! You are correct, there is a maximum of 10 poll options (and by club tradition the last one is always somehow about Rolf ) There's also a limit to the number of characters in each entry, which is why things are something phrased a little strangely. |

...and of course it could be said that Patrick Moore appeared many times, but he was hardly a guest star; so cameo appearances might be better overlooked.
If only there was time enough in the day to do the research and divvy them up by screen time, but that'd be overdoing it more than a tad. |

Hi!
From memory, there's a max of ten choices in any given poll - is that right?
If so, that might just be enough to run a fave guest stars poll (although maybe not, but worth a try). Has there been a poll for this in the last 5 years or so?
Perhaps the guests with the highest number of appearances would get automatic billing (Henry McGee, Alfie Bass etc) and then leave it to Lisa from there.
Thoughts? |
