Yes, it was brilliant to see and hear the guys all together again, and the Double Trouble clip looked fantastic on the big screen - I wanted to watch loads more Goodies with that big audience all laughing along (rather than skulking about on my laptop with teenagers sneering as I guffaw). And we got to see the rare Engelbert Bodyguards clip, which I'd only read about before! Then there was the signing session... Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone involved, TBT, GG, and extra appreciation to WEO for the bonus signature. You rock! I don't have to take this kind of thing from you, you know! But I'm going to... |

Very nice session indeed yesterday. Richard Herring was a terrific host, the DVD copies scrubbed up very well on the big screen (notably "Way Outward Bounds") and it was a delight - as always - to see Bill, Tim and Graeme together on stage, laughing and joking and relishing their friendship as they have done for so long.
Lovely day out. The entire festival looked brilliant and I wish we'd been able to experience more of it. Many thanks to Chris Daniels and his team for staging such a terrific series of events year after year.

All the best

Tickets have gone on sale for these Goodies-related events for the Slapstick 2019 Festival (to be held in Bristol, England).
* LAUREL & HARDY: WAY OUT WEST (1937) INTRO FROM BILL ODDIE AND ROBIN INCE Friday, 18 Jan 10:00pm Bristol Old Vic
In this classic comedy from Stan & Ollie, a prospector enlists the pair to deliver the deed for a goldmine to his daughter Mary in Brushwood Gulch. When they arrive in the small village, Mary’s sinister guardian pretends to be Mary, thus fooling the hapless duo into handing over the deed. Upon meeting the real Mary, the pair realise their mistake and set about getting the deed into the rightful owner’s hands. Considered by many – including Bill Oddie – to be Laurel & Hardy’s finest and funniest film, this screening is proceeded by a brief onstage chat with Robin Ince and Bill Oddie.
* COMPLETE GOODIES: RICHARD HERRING IN CONVERSATION WITH TIM, BILL AND GRAEME Saturday, 19 January 2:00pm
Finally! The last, great, unreleased DVD box set has seen the light of day. For the first time ever anywhere in the world, every episode of THE GOODIES has been released for obsessive fans - young and old.
To celebrate, Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Bill Oddie reunite on stage at Bristol Old Vic for a unique afternoon in conversation. Graeme, Tim and Bill will talk about their sparkling career in comedy and the enduring popularity of ‘The Goodies’ decades on. Prepare for delight and discovery as ardent fan Richard Herring rummages through his new box set for classic clips from one of the best-loved TV comedies.
* BARRY CRYER AND COLIN SELL: LIVE AGAIN! Sunday, 20 January 8:00pm
In yet another farewell tour, Baz returns, reunited with Colin Sell who refuses to take no for an answer. Barry Cryer, still a “Sprightly Veteran” (Undertaker’s Gazette) and Colin Sell a “Legendary Virtuoso” (Pensioner’s Weekly) combine to entertain you with songs, jokes and the amazing realisation that they’re still here. |
