New comedy series for Seven
The Seven Network has signed stand-up comedian, Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross, to host a new comedy series, Australia Versus.
The new pop culture series, will pit Australian comedians against their British and American rivals in talking up cultural differences, The Sunday Telegraph reports.
Featured local celebrities will include Peter Berner, Peter Helliar, Fiona O’Loughlin, Greig Pickhaver and Rebel Wilson, along with internationally renowned Tim Brooke-Taylor, Pauly Shore and English funnymen Hale and Pace.
Ross told the newspaper that his new program would ultimately be a strong comedy showcase:
“It’s just comedians being funny. There are so many talking heads on TV who are not funny. I loved it, as it was a great premise for the comedians – not just the Aussies, but the Poms and Americans.
“Some of the debates are ridiculous – who’s got the sexiest starlet, Sophie Monk v Keira Knightley? – but it’s a great premise for jokes.
“The music stuff is great, with some uneven contests – Can Khe Sanh really take on (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction?”
The program is expected to premiere later this year. |
