Posted by lisa

A program called "Comedy Connections" will feature an examination of "The Goodies" in its 21st June episode, which is scheduled to air from 22:35 to 23:05 on BBC 1.

Here's the listing: "Series charting the history of some of the best British comedy shows, and finding out what the teams who made them have gone on to do. The inside story of 1970s hit show The Goodies, from the beginnings at the Cambridge Footlights to national stardom. Featuring interviews with John Cleese, Jane Asher and the three stars themselves, Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor."

Re the remark "Hopefully we all know what should come next" - I had a feeling the BBC would do it and they did - they didn't show it! I assume that because of Wimbledon, we had to see the Panorama special on randy Bill C - not Mr Oddie - and we got the smug "In a change to what's listed in SOME listing magazines" announcement with no indicaion at all when it would be shown. In my humble opinion the BBC daren't show anything relating to the Goodies as it would show the present so called comedy garbage they put out to shame! Rant over...

I've seen a letter on Ceefax that asks why did the beeb swap Clinton and the Goodies around. As far as I know Clinton was to go out on Monday, using Panorama to plug his book, I guess, while Tuesday night would be when the Goodies went out. My theory is that someone at the beeb looked at the schedules and reasoned that nobody would want to watch a lying cheating ex-president who's now flogging a book, but they would want to see a show about a show that won awards for the BBC in the sevenites, but now the beeb treats it like number twos. So they sacrificed the Comedy Connections show about the Goodies by swapping it around. Complaining won't do any good, because they'll probably say that they put the show out and won't repeat it, and if you don't like it - tough! Sorry if I sem to be ranting, but the BBC gets me like that. To add insult to injury I've received the annual "begging letter" from the BBC telling me to pay for the licence!

Grrrrrrrrr!!! indeed to the bbc. Maybe i and my friends wouldn't have missed the aforementioned shoddily treated prog if we regularly tune in to beeb 1 and its soaps, makeover progs, hospital dramas and.. yawn.. so on. But no, we trusted the radio times, waited patiently and got well and truely kicked in the bits for our trouble. Birds of a feather this week. oh dear oh dear.

slightly annoying that yesterday the mentioned programme was about the delightful show "birds of a feather" what a way to follow the Goodies!!!!!! it's not enough for the BBC to ignore them, now they have to patronise the fans!
