Network have very kindly updated us with the situation regarding 'The Goodies' DVD releases.
Preparations are well under way for the follow up DVD to be released in September, though as always the dates are subject to change. Only 'Pirate Radio Goodies' has been confirmed so far but a shortlist has been drawn up from which 16 episodes will be chosen to form volumes 2 and 3.
It is hoped that clips from 'The Cilla Black Show' will be included as extras and possibly some
music appearances from other shows such as Shang-a-lang!.
In addition to these BBC episodes there are also plans to release the entire London Weekend Television series as a special DVD.
I hope all at Network get an OBE for bringing us these wonderful discs.

This is top news, let's hope 'U Friend or UFO' is one to be considered,
looking at 'The Goodies' episodes recently I was surprised how well they've aged, obviously you get some episodes that are better than others but on choices for the first Network release all work well and it looks like the BBC spent a fortune on each one, also is it me or does 'Lighthouse Keeping Loonies' echoe Rik and Ade's stage stuff, (foghorn)...classic! and ahead of thier time.
And despite what was said in the past the ITV run was a pretty good swansong, and thanks to LWT for taking them in due to the fact the BBC blew what was to be 'The Goodies' next series budget on 'Hitch-hikers Guide', (no smear to 'Hitch-hikers' OK).
Well done to Network for taking consideration and care in your releases, although under license I think that if the BBC did release this on their own label there would have been no commentaries, no extras and no reference to the writers on content....Ta very much!
G'day all fellow Goodies fans, a few episodes I'd love to see on the next dvd, radio goodies, string ,black beauty?, snooze, anyone else have any favorites? Tony from Tasmania
My husband bought me the Goodies DVD for Christmas and my kids (aged 6 and 3) are absolutely addicted to it. As for the next DVD, there are so many episodes that I would love to see, eg the one when they visit Tim's uncle on the farm, Big Bunny, the Tyrannosaurus Rex one, the one when the building equipment and tools come to life, the OK Tearooms, the Giant Cod, Black Beauty, String...I could go on and on! I can't wait to see these again. And I know my kids will love it.
this is excellant, i've only recently become addicted to The Goodies, and have bought the merchandise avalible but seriously can't wait for more. This is the best news since sliced bread!
Wish they would hurry up and release it, would love to see big cod, big bunny, string, goodies almost live, Tim's uncles farm, and any other they would release, I for one would buy them all Goodies were ahead of their time, my kids find that their comments still mean the same today as back then another good episode when they become ballet fans (soccer!!!!)
I can't wait for the next release :) also be good if they do release all series 9 , the bbc episodes i'd like to see released hopefully even if some happen to be on their list
1.Snooze. 2 Cecily, 3 The Stolen Musicians, 4. Goodies Rule - OK?
considering theyt released goodies and the beanstalk.
5 Daylight Robbery on the Orient Express,6 The End,7 8 Pirate radio
9. The Stone Age,10 Goodies in the Nick 11 The Race, 12 Superstar
13, Invasion of the Moon Creatures, 14 The Lost Island of Munga,
15 Movies 16 Clown Virus
thats what i'd like to see on their release :)
I wish there was some kind of structure to the releases. Every other series made releases episodes in series or season structure. It makes it easier to know when certail episodes are coming. This business of puting a couple of episodes together is crap! That's all I have to say about that.
I tend to agree with you, Crusso, it would have been better if the episodes were released in order, but I'd rather have them jumbled up than not at all. I just hope they do eventually release every episode possible.
'Tis a ploy often employed by Auntie Beeb, release some of the episodes in a seemingly random, higgledy piggledy order which we all buy 'cos we want 'em so much. Then a few years later they'll rellease 'em all again in order, so we'll buy those little bunnies as well. More money for them! Old cynic, me? I'm not that old.......
does anbody know where i can get the goodies on division one (american playable systems) these guys were funnier than python.bobmooseday@yahoo.com cheers!
Did you mean "Region 1" mooser? The DVD released in both the UK and Australia is coded as Region 0 which means it's supposed to be playable on all regions. The only thing you need to check is whether your telly can handle PAL encoding (though most modern tellies can).
Oh Goodie!!
I have a couple of tapes of them, which i copied from tapes which a friend taped when they were last on tv down here - kidna slightly dodgey quality, but better than nothihg. I therefore have string, the wild building equipment, Tim's uncle's farm, and a whole heap of others, like the Shiny Pegs toothpaste one..!!
Love the bagpipe spider one, and also there is one that i remember little snippets of, although it might be the bagpipe spider!! I was too young when they were on last, so I don't really remember them that well!!! I find that sad!!
There were two videso that were released in Aus, and they have the OK Tearooms, and also a couple that are on the dvd. I don't know if they were released anywhere else e though...
Ohh, this is exciting news, hopefully they'll get here by christmas!!!
We all seem to be missing the point somewhat. My kids love the episodes I was lucky enough to still have on video from the last re-run, my friends think they're brilliant and my husband (scottish) still laughs about the loch ness episode so why in gods name are they not being shown on tv here? The odd episode on dvd is nice but it's not the same.
WOW! I HAVE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN!!!! The LWT episodes might finally be released on DVD????? I can't wait! At least, now, my LWT Goodies video wont have to last me forever, as it is wearing a bit thin.
I've always thought that The London Weekend Television episodes are some of the best! (though some will disagree). 'Holiday' is one of my favourite Goodies episodes!
THREE CHEERS FOR NETWORK VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad that there will be more Goodies episode on DVD; I hope that they will be treated the same way as the episodes that have previously come out. Digital cleanup, commentary tracks, etc.
"Oh, I've wet meself"
most of my friends are goodies fans here in australia from 8 to 60
years old i am luck to have some on video and indeed are getting worn out. thanks for the efforts of this site and people behind the scenes in getting them released on dvd
I'd just like to suggest that the third disc include "The Goodies— Almost Live", one of my all time favourites. Plus all of Andyt's suggestions. Lucy from Tassie
