Just what is "The Goodies Rule-OK!"? |
The Goodies Rule - OK! is a club for fans of The Goodies. While it was founded in 1995 by Alison Bean of Adelaide, Australia, it has grown to be a worldwide, internet-based club. We currently have over 4,200 members in more than 70 countries; our staff is spread between Australia, the US, and the UK.
Our aim is to provide the latest Goodies news as well as a forum for Goodies fans to get together, chat and find out more about the show.
We have get-togethers like video nights and organised a Goodies convention (which was held in April 2000) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the show. We keep our members up-to-date with the latest happenings of Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie via our newsletter The Goodies Fan Club Clarion and Globe (back issues of which are available online by clicking here ) as well as through this website. |

How can I join the club (and get the monthly newsletter)? |
Online membership is free.
Currently there are three separate parts to online membership; you can choose any or all of them.
First there is the newsletter (the Clarion & Globe). To subscribe, all you have to do is send an empty email to newsletter-subscribe@goodiesruleok.com and reply to the confirmation email. You will be added to club's mailing list and you will receive our newsletter every month.
Secondly there is the goodies-l mailing list. Signing up for the mailing list is done in exactly the same way as subscribing to the Clarion & Globe. Just send a blank email to goodies-l-subscribe@goodiesruleok.com and reply to the confirmation email.
Thirdly, there is the website registration. For this you need to click on the "Register - it's free!" link in the Login box on the left-hand side of the page, fill in the form and activate your account.
If you do not have an e-mail address membership is unfortunately not free. This is because it costs money to snail mail you a monthly newsletter (obviously). Postal membership for Australians is $20 per annum. For everyone else it's $30 per annum (Australian dollars), although we are looking at making this option available to the UK/Europe and US through the representatives of those countries, and in local currency.
To join send your cash or cheque/money order, in Australian dollars (cheques made out to "The Goodies Rule - OK!") to:
The Goodies Rule - OK! P.O. Box 492 Rosanna VIC 3084 AUSTRALIA

Do "The Goodies" know about the club? |
Yes they do. We wrote to Tim, Bill and Graeme in 1997 telling them about us and were thrilled to receive e-mail replies from Tim and Graeme. Tim & Graeme have been particularly supportive of the club, volunteering to answer questions for the newsletter and keeping us up to date with what they're doing. Bill Oddie is a self confessed technology ignoramus and so hasn't, as far as we know, visited these pages, but he is aware of the club.
In addition, all three Goodies participated in the convention the club organized in 2000 (Kitten Kon); Tim was able to come to Melbourne to attend in person while Bill and Graeme took part in a Q&A session live via satellite from England.
We're extremely proud that www.goodieseruleok.com has been made the official website for the Goodies tours. You'll see our URL pop up in some of the tour advertising as well as the in the souvenir programme. |

How can I meet other Goodies fans? |
The best ways to meet club members is to participate in discussions in the Forums & to join goodies-l, the club's mailing list.
To join goodies-l send an e-mail to goodies-l-subscribe@goodiesruleok.com
Please note: the Profile pages that were so popular on the old site have not yet been adapted for the new site - please bear with us, we're working on it.

So what happens if I change my email address? |
This is a complex answer.
We currently have 3 places where you can register for either the discussion mailing list, the monthly newsletter or access to the website.
To change the address for either of the mailing lists, you will need to unsubscribe from the list by sending an email to goodies-l-unsubscribe@goodiesruleok.com or to newsletter-unsubscribe@goodiesruleok.com using your old address, and reply to the confirmation email that it will send to you at your old address. Then you will need to manually subscribe your new address to the appropriate mailing list.
The website has a facility where you can change your email, which you can find under the "My Settings" link. |
